12/14/2001 Entry: "Shopping, SWBell"

Yesterday I received the monthly email stating that our phone bill was ready to be viewed. I went to the site and saw that they wanted $297.17 from us. Those rotten bastards had screwed up again. They were trying to charge us for another DSL modem AND they were overcharging us for our service. We pay $39.95 a month for DSL and they wanted $61.92. My ASS. They already owe us over $500 in credits for double billing us for 11 months. Yes, I know it shouldn't have taken me 11 months to notice. I called them up and miracle upon miracles I managed to get ahold of a lady who actually knew what she was doing. She gave us yet another credit for the modem and service overcharge. She informed me that we now have a credit of $659.42. Amazing. Amazingly stupid. Oh well, at least we won't have to pay our phone bill for awhile.

I went to the mall at 11:30 this morning. Insanity. I can't imagine working retail, much less during the holidays. I would think that since 9/11 people would be a little less frenzied and rude, but I saw quite a few people who looked and acted rabid. I might have been shopping at Bellvue instead of Valley View. Women digging through piles of clothing, almost snarling, throwing stuff on the floor. The guy in line behind me kept muttering obscenities because the poor salesgirl was trying to ring up a shirt that had no tag. Freak.

I also saw some pre-preteen girls hanging out in the food court. First of all, is today not a school day? Secondly (and more important), what kind of parent is going to let their little girl wear ultra-tight lowrise jeans and a sparkly tube top? Yes, a tube top. I couldn't believe it. Not only was she way too young to wear something like that, but it's around 50 degrees out today. Inconceivable. When I was her age I was collecting dolls and playing with my Easy Bake oven. I would have been at the toy store, mooning over Barbie's latest vehicle, not flirting with boys and being ogled by perverts.

Time to pack for this weekend. Muah.
