A quick update:

The Thursday before last Zack went out to the MX track and wrecked again. He managed to fracture his right elbow. His second wreck in two weeks. Damn. The doctor told him he didn't need a cast, which made him really happy. His bike got pretty torn up in the crash, but it will be awhile before Z's arm is recovered enough to turn a wrench. :)

I was supposed to visit the doctor last Monday, but she ws in surgery all day, so they rescheduled for yesterday. The doc did a quick sonogram for us. Check it out:

She also gave us a new due date: February 20th, 2005.

And last, but certainly not least, happy belated birthday to my wonderful mom. I called her on her bday, but I wanted to post something in here as well. I love you, mommy dearest!

My very own Mommy Dearest, circa 1953-ish.

Lilypie Baby Days

I ordered The Legend Of Zelda for my NES last night. I don't recall how I got through life before the internet and Ebay.

Story time:

Right before I discovered I was pregnant I was in my usual spot, ass planted in front of the computer, drinking milk and eating M&Ms. (Yay for my high metabolism.) My face was starting to break out (Another symptom of pregnancy. This better be the best damn kid in the whole world for making me revisit my teenage acne.) so I had applied a few dots of toothpaste to my chin in order to dry out the zits. While engrossed in someone else's personal life (Possibly Tanya or Raspil.) I accidentally swiped the toothpaste with an M&M on the way to my mouth. I was amazed at how good it tasted... just like chocolate mint chip ice cream. Ta-da! My first craving is born.

I told that story to my in-laws during our last visit and from their reactions I guess I'm supposed to be embarrassed. I probably would be if I weren't all strung out on chocolate brownies and ice cream.

Being pregnant is so frigging weird. Right now I'm not hungry, but my stomach is growling. I just finished eating a bowl of instant mashed potatoes with Tabasco sauce like 20 minutes ago. I'm pretty sure the kidlet gets his or her appetite from Zack.

A few weeks ago Zack and I were on I-35 South on our way to Austin and we saw the following SUV flying down the highway at over 80 miles per hour:

A Cadillac Escalade with an "OIL MAN" personalized license plate and an "Earth First" sticker in its back window. Who does that guy think he's kidding? Crazy bastard.

I'm in a frigging AWESOME mood! I just bought tickets to the Dallas (Irving, actually) and Houston '05 Supercross races! Ticketmaster was having a presale for mailing list people and I grabbed my tickets as soon as they went on sale. Yay!

April 2nd, 2005 - Dallas (Irving), TX.
April 30th, 2005 - Houston, TX.

Speaking of dirt bikes, Zack wrecked last week at Boondoxxx. He had spent the whole day riding and he was tired. He should have known better than to try to do a few more laps. He hit a jump and looped out. He cut his right hand up pretty good. By the time he got on his feet and rode back to the truck he had soaked his glove. He got blood all over himself, his bike, his helmet and riding gear, the truck, the backpack we keep the video camera in for the helmet cam, and the picnic table. He also scraped up his right arm, his back, bruised his chest, and he caught a peg in his upper right thigh. The peg got awfully close to his boy parts, which really freaked him out. I told him it was a good thing we'd already conceived. He didn't seem to think that was very funny. Anyhoo, after we washed off his hand it appeared that he didn't need stitches. We picked up some bandages on our way home. He's almost good as new now and he wants to go ride again this week.

Baby news is good. I feel like eating everything in sight and then sleeping for an hour. Yesterday Z and I went to Babys R Us and looked at all the crap we don't need. Why are baby strollers and cribs so ugly? Zack didn't like the way the baby monitors looked, either. He said he was going to paint ours camoflauge.

Thanks for all the well-wishes, y'all. :) Everything is going well here.

Good stuff about being pregnant:

- Thinking up baby names, the more ridiculous the better, is a great road trip game.

- People offer all kinds of great & crazy advice. It's very entertaining.

- I get to buy motocross jerseys to wear as maternity shirts.

Bad stuff about being pregnant:

- The pre-natal vitamins make me feel sick. Doc gave me like seven different kinds of vitamin samples to try out. When I pick the one I like the best she'll write me a prescription for it. Blech.

- The doctor told me I'm not allowed to have rare or even medium-rare steak. It has to be well-done. What's the point of eating steak if it's not at least a little bloody??!?

- Wacky hormones. We went to see Dodgeball on July 4th and I started tearing up when Steve the Pirate returned at the end. WTF??

Big announcement:

I'm pregnant! We weren't trying to conceive... it just happened. Everyone is ecstatic, especially our mothers. ;) We found out last week, but I wanted to see the doctor before we started telling people. Yesterday was my first appointment. I'm seven weeks pregnant today and I'm due February 26th. That date could change after the first sonagram, of course.

I can't believe I'm going to be a mommy. Pregnant for the first time at 30 years old. I guess that's not terribly uncommon these days. I honestly thought I wouldn't have a kid for three or four more years.

Bad things about being pregnant:

Morning sickness. No booze. No riding my dirt bike. I'm sleepy all the time.

Good things about being pregnant:

I'm eventually going to have a kidlet. People are constantly bringing me food and I can nap whenever I want.

Zack says he's hoping for a boy. I think he's dreaming of having the next Ricky Carmichael or Travis Pastrana.

Anyhoo, I'm down in Austin visiting the in-laws, so I'll write more when I get home on Monday.
