12/16/2001 Entry: "Tailbone"

Zack's mom and sister have five cats. Meet two of them... Milton and Tobias:

Milton likes to sit at the screen door and paw it open, either so he can get outside or other cats can get in. They say he's been squished in the door a few times, but he's never been injured. Until a few weeks ago, that is.

One afternoon Mom and Kristina noticed an orange furry thing on the front porch. They didn't know what it was until they saw Milton. He had gotten his tail caught in the door and managed to pull almost two inches of fur & skin off the end of it. All that's left is bone. Milton's not in pain (he's as playful as ever), but Mom wants to have the bony part amputated. Steven (one of Zack's brothers - he works at the animal shelter) said to leave it alone and the fur will grow back. If that's true, I wish it would hurry. It freaks me out. Zack noticed me getting green while looking at it and he said "Wouldn't that be weird if one of our dogs tried to chew on the bone?" I almost lost it. Zack can be such a brat sometimes.

Here are a couple of pictures I took with Mom's cheap digital camera:

I know you wanted to see that.

Zack and I will be home this evening sometime. I should be online around 9 or so.
