Obsessive Anime fans aren't very rational beings. They'll barbeque anyone who says Anime sucks. It's perverted etc,etc. I can't blame anyone for hating anime. I don't hate people for liking anime. It's those asshole Otakus I can't stand. I agree with Kitt D. all the way for her reasons for hating Otaku.
Anime runs the gamut of the good the bad and the nasty. There are plenty of stupid titles out there. Avoid anime with super cute
characters it's probably hentai. Man there are a lot of perverts in the anime realm. One more thing I don't care what you say dubbed anime and subbed anime are one and the same. I don't care for Japanese voice actors and I'm not Japanese so it doesn't matter one bit whether an anime is modified for american audiences or in its raw Japanese form. I think Anime fans have brought their *bad rep* on themselves. The Purists are the scariest and most frightening example of what anime has brought upon humanity. I may have only seen dubbed anime but that doesn't mean I'm stupid or ignorant of the Japanime universe. I'm turned off by it because of the Quote from Hiroshi Neko. He's truly a sad case of Anime fan gone wacko. Just because I've seen dubbed anime doesn't mean I haven't tasted real anime. I don't like that much anymore. Because of Purists. They just turn an innocent pasttime into a sick cult. They foam at the mouth and curse. You'd think anime fans were as mature as the anime they watch. Guess I'm wrong.

Anime fans who get pissed off at people's anti Anime comments and attitudes only prove the sentiment of the Anti crowd as more credible mature/intelligent etc,etc. You can't cuss people out and expect them to think more highly of you. I've been into anime for the last year or so and have noticed things about anime purists. they usually bash any dub good or bad and say that the japanesse is the best. I think the only anime movie i could only watch in japanesse was "grave of the fireflies". and i think that these purists are going to give disney a hard time for making a microsopic adjustments so that an american viewer could understand it better. and they get totally pissed about it. I think if anime was already made for an american release like the animatrix which was originally english, should change some of these stereotypes. oh well. cant force something against anyone anyway

The truth of the matter is, and this is something that we must all accept, everyone is different. People have different likes and dislikes and they are free to their opinion. I, personally, enjoy anime. It is a fascinating look into different planes of existance that many have dreamed of for centuries. In anime, we can experience demons, warlocks, and kids like us gaining super powers. But that isn't for everyone, and it seems that so-called "Otakus" can't stand that fact. I wonder if anyone even knows what an Otaku is? Hm? For the anti-anime people, I think that you're free to your own views and if you care to express them publicly, by all means, it's in your rights. Reading anti-anime statements can actually be fun for all the silly reasons that claim to hate it for. And to the pro-anime humanoids, not everyone is going to like it. That doesn't make them bad people. I have yet to see one article that says "I hate anime so you have to as well." They are giving their opinion on a matter. They are not forcing you to believe the same things as they do. I am sometimes ashamed to call myself an anime fan just because of the hardcore ones that jump over anyone who, say, even mis-pronounces a name (c'mon! i've watched anime for about five years and still get names wrong). I suggest people mature themselves and think the situation over before damning someone for not liking something.

I had to smile when I stumbled on this webpage... I'd consider myself a purist in that I only watch subbed anime, but I sort of see it as preserving the original. I saw some anime as a child and, not realizing it was anime, didn't like it because the voices so completely didn't match up with the animation... when I got older, I was happy to discover that it wasn't supposed to be that way. Similarly, I wouldn't watch Life is Beautiful dubbed. It's a personal preference for me, but I have a lot of friends who prefer dubbed anime... and I don't feel like everyone has to watch anime at all, much less in its original format. So maybe those of who you have had bad experiences are just talking to the wrong anime fans. =D I'm happy to see anime broadcast on TV for American audiences... it helps spread the culture, and a lot of people get interested in seeing the original form once they've been exposed to it in a comfortable environment.

Hello, I'm a fan of anime who's actually getting a little sick of anime and the thing altogether... I'm not otaku, I was considering becoming one earlier, then I learned what an otaku really is, and I was like, go to hell... Ok, I was just looking @ a few anti-anti-anime pages, and they were saying that the antis were dissing Japanese culture, and this where I got REALLY upset! I also don't like otakus that say go to hell, haters... That's one of the many reasons why I still find anime a questionable hobby to get involved in... I also HATE reading subtitles, because then I'm just focused on reading them, and not the movie, then I get a serious migrane...

Damn people what really pisses me off is the fact that a whole mess of u people hate otakus and anime when you are so very ignorant about what the otakus are raving about! When you say "anime sucks" and all that crap please tell me you are not talking about dubbed and edited Toonami shows like Pokemon or Digimon or whatever because let me tell you THOSE ARE NOT THE BEST ANIMES OUT THERE! Maybe to some people they are, and I respect their opinions, but please do not be so freakishly judgmental about something you obviously know hardly a thing about. I enjoy watching good anime, I have since I was 3, and I know we're all entitled to our opinions, but still. I don't make a big deal about so-called "trends" I'm not particularly fond of. Anime obviously contains a lot more depth to American cartoons; rather than stressing movement (though many anime action sequences are done with extremely precise detail) it conveys an intricate story line, three-dimensional characters, and the various concepts of emotions and realism. Flame me, flame me, blah blah blah see if I give a damn.

I like this page because it actually has some intelligent insights about anti-anime/ pro-anime. Some anti-anime websites are WAY too heavy on the mud-slinging, and some pro-anime websites are made by scary anime fanatics. The truth is, people who hate anime aren't bad; and those who love anime aren't bad. I've been on both sides of the fence. Let's all get along, please! =)

Man these topics go one forever huh? Thanks to the people up there who typed their opinions fully on anti anime and one on pro anime.
I swear, the ones that are sort of "anti anime" are typing out these logical reasons, and all the neo otaku can do is skim read, if not read the thing at all- write in bad Japanese and give 1 sentence. All they do is look at the title ANTI ANIME and they trip! Hate to see them in a dangerous situation...no wait...I do.
Basically for those Anime Otaku who have sense, you have to expect us to view anime fandom this way, when so many neo otaku just ruin this hobby and basically overshadow anime fans who can basically ignore a dub, accept someone elses opinion, and know not everyone likes the same thing.
You can say "i don't like dubs" fine, but you don't have to keep going on and on and exaggerating about how bad YOU think it is.
Thats another thing I don't like about some anime fans, they try to make statements and facts and they just don't get that you can't because everyone has a matter of choice.
"Subs are better, Japanese animation is better, Japanese VA's are better you can hear emotion, Dubs sux, Dub VA's are bad actors, Japan is better then etc etc"
They make these like facts and it just ain't gonna happen!

I like anime, but its not that great, I make critic comments on the story and animation.
IMO the anime thats coming out now is just too freakin repetitive! How many series can you actually base a Mech and a pilot and how they have to fight some org? Or the dang one guy 5 girls theme? Or the AI robot girl and the virgin pervert? The card games? And many many many more...
There have been a few that I have seen that break away from it, then soon others are so quick to nab it, the breakers just become lost anime. I mean they run the same theme into the ground and everyone thinks its new.
Another thing that turns people off to anime is how much the character personality is the same! You can only make a Hyper, Cute, Loud girl and her only flaw would be tripping and math. So many times! Its over! Come on!
Also that whole bad boy with the long hair...its getting to a point where you can't tell them apart!
If you look around and find pics of different series...is it me, or can you only make a purple haired green eyed girl with pigtails so many times before it becomes stale? Well, I guess in Japan and to Neo Otaku it never will.
I may be a fan... but I'm happy to admit I'm a Biased one.

You can't learn Japanese from Anime, get over it~! Pick up a book or sign up for a class! That to me is an insult to Japanese culture when you can't even learn proper Japanese properly!

I kinda disagree, I am too an subbie fan but only because of certain dubbing companies takes out the romance, violence and suspense of an anime and often use ethnic cleansing. That doesnt mean I hate all dub fans(Saturday morning ones are an exception though), I also have beef with some subbie fans who doesnt does anything about their situation except bitching about how their anime is being slaughtered and I am talking about people who have no appreciation for dubs hating dubs and being pro sub doesnt make you better. You are just being a hypocrite yourself, I was a subbie fan before but now I have a more equal view of anime.
